Stepping Stones Into the Future

For H&A, consultancy means helping tourist regions set up the framework for sustainable tourism for the future. Not just environmental sustainability – an important aspect for tourism – but also economic sustainability and social sustainability. Tourism must be organised in such a way as to maximise economic profits and benefits to all members of the population today and in the future. Having efficient institutions is an important prerequisite for sustainable tourism, and so H&A is constantly supporting governments and other public insitutions plus the private sector to establish institutions that bring together all stakeholders in strong public-private partnerships.

Especially emerging economies can benefit from strengthened ties between all parties to maximise the positive impacts of tourism to support economic development.

Below are some examples for projects H&A has done in the past few years.

This ongoing project involves structuring, re-organising and improving frameworks and institutions around tourism in Ghana to strengthen existing ties, create new links and support Ghana in organising tourism strategies for the future. The tourism umbrella organisation GHATOF from the private sector and the Ministry of Tourism and others from the public sector are brought together in workshops and the newly drawn-up regulations to strengthen public-private partnerships (PPP).
